Metro League 4 - Wianamatta Regional Park - 'Roads to Nowhere"

Metro League 4 was staged on the "Roads to Nowhere" map ( 1:75000) - Wianamatta Regional Park, Ropes Crossing. The area was formerly a defence site and judging by the many large earth banks, me thinks that some form of explosives were stored here.

Unfortunately all of the Uringa/ Central Coast teams suffered defeats.

In Division 1 the Bennelong/Southern Highlands/Illawarra team proved too strong running out winners 32 - 23.  Ant Nolan was the best for our team finishing with 9 points  and was 4th fastest overall. Michael Warlters was next best scoring 6 points and was 9th fastest on the course.

Ignore the positioning of numbers - they were right on the maps

Division 3 battled valiantly in their match up with the team from SHOO/IKO. Unfortunately having only 3 runners is no match for a full team of 5. Maggie McKay was the big scorer gaining a perfect 10 and was 3rd fastest overall. Maggie has been the shining star in W16A this year . In late September she is off to the Australian Schools Championships in Ballarat - looking forward to catching up with the results. The final score was 35 points to 17.

Division 5 took on the tough SHOO/IKO team and were beaten 33-22. Mind you there was a fair battle at the head of the points. Will Nolan had an absolute blinder picking up 10 points and was 3rd fastets. Will, in HSC mode has not orienteered much this year but he was on fire 5 of his course legs were the fastest overall and a further 4 were second fastest. Gayle was a 5 pointer  and 14th overall.

There are two more rounds to go in the 2022 Metro League.
18th September - Smiths Creek over Campbelltown way. The finals will be held on 9th October in the Galston area.
It would be good to see some extra runners - even if not in a team you can run your course.
