Set in the Lithgow area the 2022 Xmas 5 days was a contrast indeed- weather wise that is. Day 1 hot same to for day 2, day 3 overcast and cooler but humid, Day 4 rain and Day 5 thinking about rain.
The terrain was very similar with spur gully interspersed with rock.
Must mention the efforts of Oskar Mella and Anna Fitzgibbon- setter and controller for day 3 and Colin Price, 5 Day organiser . Just 3 weeks prior to the event national Parks closed the Long Swamp area as the road in was undriveable. Another area was sources - courses set in just 2 weeks. Official permission to use the area was granted a week before the event and the courses were finalised the weekend before the event.- Amazing work

Congratulations to Linda for taking out Women C in fine form. Maggie was well placed in Womens C. Jim Mackay had a steady carnival not troubling the scorers until a really brilliant final race with a first place.

There were some highlights among them Aldo competing on Day 2- he was so fast that the left the soles of his shoes behind in the bush. It was great to see Owen, Monica and Alice out in the bush.
Day 5 at Blue Mountains Grammar, Wentworth Falls was a Uringa event. Oliver Freeman (Big Foot) was the course setter. Oliver attended BMG until his HSC in 2022 so he knew the school intimately. Mark Freeman was the controller. The courses were excellent and well received. This was Oliver's first course setting experience.
The old story of check your numbers was not heeded by a number of runners on Hard 1 and Hard 2. 108 as pictured below and 109 some 30 metres away was behind a wall.

Uringans gathered on Friday afternoon to set out the start and finish whilst Oliver and Mark put out stands and trestles. The team worked brilliantly although there were some interesting comments about Chiefs and Indians. Within an hour the tasks were complete and they all could head home for dinner.
Day 5 dawned with fog shrouding the scene. Strangely the main gates to the school were open ( closed the day before). Helpers arrived and reinforcements and before you knew it 250 runners were processed at the start and then the finish and the event was done. Special mention to Serena who organised all the prizes. That girl knows how to shop!
We were packed up and away within an hour- what a well oiled machine.
2023 will see the 5 days back on the Central Coast. This is where the event began many many years ago when former Uringa member put on some events for visiting Scandinavians.
