Metro 5 - Smiths Creek Ruse

You have to chuckle about borders for suburbs. The start for this event was in Ruse and the finish in Campbelltown. many thanks to Southern highlands for staging the event.

Fine weather once more greeted the troops as we head quickly towards the end of the Metro Season. Smiths Creek is a long linear map covering the two sides of Smiths Creek. Vegetation in places was thickish but tracks were fast.

Division 1 went down swinging to the "unconquerable" Big Foot team 32 - 22. Any team containing 4 Australian reps plus 1 NZ rep is always going to take some beating. However try the uringans did. Ant was the best of our team with a return to form finishing 4th overall and collecting 8 big points. Serana, Michael, Shane and Zoe collected 5,4,3,2.

Division 3 picked up an excellent win in Division 3. Fielding a full team , thanks to David Christie, they outpointed their Big Foot rivals 31 - 21. Jonathan Nolan, again showed exceptional speed finishing 5th overall and collected 9 big big points. Ori, Jim, Maggie and David cleaned up lots fo points 7,6,5,4 respectively to leave the Big Footers wityh only the scraps to pick over. Hopefully Maggie's rolled ankle recovers for the Aust Champs and Aust Schools Carnival in a weeks time.

Division 5 also recorded a win over Big Foot  27-25. Will Nolan flew round the course to come in 6th overall and 8 points; Gayle again was right behind  9th overall and 7 points, . Ron, Peter and Jane snuck in for some handy points - 5,4,3 respectively.

Still waiting to hear whether William scored a promised beer from dad! We were fortunate to have the local soccer club on hand with some excellent catering- mmm a hot pie on a collsih day- who could ask for anything else.

As far as the teams point score goes I am afraid the Uringa teams are languishing down the bottom end of the competition but we are having fun...

The last round of the Metro is on October 9th Galston way.

One of the good things happening now is the use of Livelox. You can upload your tracing from your gps device and load it onto your course and see what you did and where you thought you went. I messed up 5-6 and 7 to 8 and now seeing it on livelox I now understand what I did.... If you wnat to have a look and a laugh.... go to
