Mulgoa Metro #5

On a brand new map of an area new to orienteering, the crowds gathered at Mulgoa. Now for anyone used to the typical Metro terrain this was a shock as there were few trails to follow and the bush was just that bush a mixture of open and then thicker "blackthorn country". The rock features were very interesting. It was a challenge.

As far as our team results went: Div 1 unfortunately went down again but it was not for the want of trying. Ondrej continues to score podiums with a fine 3rd place. He was supported by Ant and Laurent 14th and 17th respectively. Unfortunately Ian mp having failed to see control 10 on the way between 9/11. In Ian's defence it was very hard to see.
Division 1

Division 2 team or should I say "Team Mackay" were very noble in defeat going down to Garingal by 2 points. Note here that the GO team only had two runners but were boosted by an extra runner which gave them the win! Fin continues to show improved navigation with an excellent 6th place overall.
Division 4

Division 4 were up for a win with Sophie showing fine form to come in 10th overall. She was rather aplogetic as she spent a fair bit of time going 2/3. The old jobbler Dave showed great navigation to finish 16th and Central Coast buddy was 14th. This time round it was Ron who mp missing control 5- didn't see it at all. He wondered why others headed in the bush after coming out of 4....
Division 5 also were up for a win too. It was a metro debut for Will and Jane who took it very carefully on a very difficult moderate course. It was a very nervous Adrienne who faced the starter- as this was one of the few bush courses that she had attempted. Taking it slowly and carefully Adrienne returned to the finish happy t have successfully completed her course. Gayle's fine 10th and Margaret's 14th helped the team to a solid win. The legs 3/4, 5/6 were a real challenge
Division 5

Not to be out of the limelight Jonathan was a very speedy 1st on the Very Easy course. He was the only competitor to break 30 minutes!

Hopefully everyone has pencilled in 27/28 August as Uringa is running a double header_ NSW Schools Championships plus NSW Sprint Championships spread over 3 races. Saturday sees two sprints. Sprint 1 10.30 start at Garrison Point (Georges Hall)  followed by Sprint 2 at WSU (Milperra)
with a 2pm start. The change of venues will be a killer!
Sunday the third race will be held at Lansdowne with a very civilised 10.30am start. We will need many helpers especially on Saturday with the venue move.
All helpers will be able to run so please pre-enter for the events using Eventor:

Amazing performances by Ondrej and Ant. I have a lot of room for improvement, especially when it comes to bush orienteering. It was great fun though!
