State leagues 10 and 11 and a pother of dust

For the adventurous ( some may say foolish) the double header on the Southern Highlands was highlighted by freezing temperatures ( feel like -1) and strong winds.
Many present were describing the winds as "katabatic" such their ferocity and temperature. However the cold - you could deal with it was the dust that was the killer.
Saturday's map
Saturday's assembly area was directly opposite a recently clear felled compartment and as a result the wind whistled over this dust bowl and proceeded to dump it on all assembled all day.
Mind you once you made it into forest it was much more pleasant. Some great results from Uringans with Dave, Jono, Maggie and gayle scoring victories. Linda and Jim were second placed and Serje, Ant and Finn took out bronze medallions in their classes.
Gayle trying to decide which finish punch would give her the fastest time
One hoped that the wind would drop for Sunday's adventure in Balanglo. Yes it did however the lulls whilst lengthy, were interrupted by periods of wild wind that made life in the finish tent an absolute pain in the ..... Trying to read a dust covered screens was rather difficult. Mind you it is a testament to the toughness of the laptops as neither threw a hissy fit and packed it in.

Result wise Dave continued his domination of M65AS with another victory. Maggie again racked up a 1st in W12A. Jim was consistent with a 2nd in M55AS and Jane and Will were in fine form to take out a 3rd place on W Open.

The cars leaving the parking kicked up less dust than the wind. However once in the car the warmth of modern day heaters soon had you feeling your extremities once more..

The race is on

I know Val is not in UR but notice the lack of clarity in comparison to the one above - dust storm!
So a good time was sort of had by all

Reminder

Not a very technical area but there were a few inetresting legs/route choices to be had on most courses.
Congratulations to Tash Key winner in W45A and Gentleman Herman Wehner 2nd in M90.
