METRO FINALS - Galston

The final Metro League Event for 2017 was held on a new map at Galston. All courses began with a series of controls in the adjoining high school followed by a road crossing (time was discounted for those who had to wait for the lights.) Then into the bush.

I struggled going to #1 as I went in upstairs and the control was on the ground floor..Dave and I both cut the corner going from #9 to #10 but that little sliver of green at the fence corner (blackberries) played havoc with our route choice.

Once again our juniors led the way with an outstanding run from Finn in Div 3, only a few minutes behind the winner. A warm welcome to Benoit (Benny) Pecoud. Beniot is an exchange student living in Bronte hailing from Switzerland. It was an interesting introduction  to Sydney Sandstone terrain.

As far as team results went. Div 3 team had a strong win over Garingal. Division 1 went down against Western and Hills. (we only had 4 players in this game!). Division 4 also were on the wrong end of the tally also  losing to Western and Hills. We were not able to field a Division 5 team.

WHAT'S ON FOR SUMMER

With the final events in the winter bush season almost upon us it is time to look ahead for the upcoming 2016-2017 summer season.
There are a number of series run during the summer
NSSS- North Sydney Summer Series (begins 5th October)
SSSS- South Sydney Summer Series (begins 9th October)
WSSS- West Sydney Summer Series (begins 9th October)
Sprint Series (begins in 8th January 2017)

Uringa has a foot in three of the above series  - NSSS, SSSS, Sprint Series

The events on 23/11 and 25/01 are big events with 200 plus runners. The other events usually have up to 100 or so.
