Clearly all the club photographers had other things on their minds through the glorious weather of the Easter Carnival, and on to the State League Long Distance Champs the following Saturday. Somehow I managed to drag out the camera for our very own event, the Sprint Championships, on ANZAC Day.
Before the 'hoi polloi' events, there was the National Orienteering League Relays: state based teams with a lot of, mostly, young legs running in a relay event of four legs. Georgia Jones features heavily here as your photographer was still photo taking and not, as later, distracted. Apologies to Lawrence Jones for not providing him with equal time.

Getting ready for the mass start for the first leg. |
Oh, dear, Georgia is missing a piece of equipment. The day was saved, however, before the clock ticked over. |
The mass start lead to groups running together in the first leg. (By the third leg the grass at this control was getting worn down and slippery and a couple of later runners slid in and hit the ground.) |
If you are in a team, waiting for your colleague to run in and hand over is tense. If you are staffing the event there is a lot to see. |
And here comes our first Uringan in the NSW team ... |
The usual suspects were staffing the finish tent. |
Linda, our cold-weather-phobe did a stirling job looking after EODs. |
Lawrence was ready to go ... where was his team mate? Come on! |
The pack has dissipated by the third leg. No jockeying for position to record the control. |
Ian always has a smile on his face, no matter what his job is. |
And then there were the individual State League Sprints. A badge event! If you can finish, you have a chance for a badge (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in some of the classes while other classes are hotly contested.. Uringa was well represented on either side of the table. President Linda Sesta made the presentation while Ron Pallas MC's and Dave Lotty managed the badges.
