That was the tale of the tape after round 1 of the 2014
Metro Season at Mount Annan Botanic Gardens. Captain Metro revealed his hand
using a complex colour coded scoring system as the back bone of his team
selections. Reminded one of the complex US Senate Ballot in the US a year or
two back.
The Harriers, Division 1, was certainly strengthened by the availability
of Paul McClellan, who top scored for the team and was 8th fastest
overall. The Shane Doyle, returning to Uringa after many years, also did well
with 14th overall only seconds behind Ian Jones in 13th.
The Harriers won their match over the “Uni Kids” 29-25.
Linda just loves Nick Wilmott's easy chair! |
The Kites, Division 3, were not quite so lucky losing to Illawarra
Kareelah 34-21. Matt Peters was the Kites highest scorer followed by Linda,
Paul and Julia. Last minute inclusion, Ron didn’t trouble the scorer. The
Division 4 Team of the Falcons were smiling
winning their clash with Illawarra Kareelah 32-23 up. Jim Mackay was best performed of the team
finishing 11th overall and Dick scrubbed up pretty well in 13th. A special thank you to Connie Mcnamee who
filled in for us.

The Kestrels were certainly were consistent performers across the board. Gayle
Shepherd led the team home as the top scorer, 9th Overall and the fledgling Finn was in fine form for 12th place
overall. They unfortunately went down to Shoo on their home turf.
The next Metro event is on April 13th at Manly
Dam. Captain Metro has a full dance card for this event
