Metro League 1 - Grays Point

Having an event in my back yard is quite a luxury but it is not without problems.

Fortunately the morning proved to be clear of rain and as a total shock to the system, the sun was shining as the competitors arrived ready for the fun and games or frolicking in the mud and water of the  Temptation Creek map
What was interesting was the mantra stay on the tracks and avoid going cross country. Ant spent some time heading totally in the wrong direction going whilst attempting a cross country leg!

The assembly area was shall we say very soggy and by the time we left rather muddy but that did not deter from a really successful day for Uringans.
Our Division 1 team had a bye for this round. Division 3 had a strong win over the Garingalites 31 -21 and the Division 5 Team had a strong win over the understrength Knox team 34-11.

As far as individual performances go Division 3 really showed that youth is an advantage as Maggie and Jono flew around their course finishing in the top ten in the class.

It was also great to welcome Luca Wong to the Metro League scene. Luca had a strong run in Division 6. Also a welocme to Peter Braine. Peter was a member of Uringa way back when.... and has rejoined the club.

Out on the course the bush was wet and the firetrails muddy. I know that on Divions 5 course the legs from 6-7-8-9 were very extremely wet with water either laying over or running down the tracks. Felt like a little kid sploshing in the puddles.
Now about the comment earlier about problems in my backyard. I left the start - yep I know where that is  immediately taking the correct track heading south to number one Turned right and then had absolutely no idea where I was on the track and subsequently went for an excursion into the bush totally confused. Fortunately I was put straight after rejoining the track by Dave and the rest was history..

Using an ochre colour to highlight the tracks made it difficult to read what was a contour and what was a track.
